School Safety Police arrest Honor student
The Principal of a school is arrested while trying to stop the arrest of one of the students. The Principal charges that the School Safety Police are too mean and forceful, perhaps implying that this started the argument between police and a student and ended with the student’s arrest.
During the hearings one student said he was held for hours in a “holding room,” while another spoke of being screamed at by a 300-pound officer. A student from Aviation High School in Queens said his six-inch ruler was confiscated by an officer who called it a “hazard to society.”
Yesterday’s confrontation began when Ms. Gonzales, an honors student, arrived early at the school .After the officer asked her to leave, the police and school officials said, heated words were exchanged and Ms. Gonzales ended up hitting the officer. The Principal asked that she be taken out a side door instead of the front to avoid embarrassment, and he was soon in an altercation with a second security officer.
Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York City Civil Liberties Union, said the episode symbolized what was wrong with stationing officers in schools. “We’ve been told that officers are not allowed to turn students away from schools,” she said. “The word isn’t out there from the Department of Education or from the police that school safety agents really have to defer on school discipline matters.” Chairman of the Council’s education committee, Robert Jackson, called the arrests “the type of mess we should not be in.” He added, “This is not a prison institution.”
Sheriff Kills 5 in Wisconsin
What are we doing with 20 year olds as cops?
Allegedly a Police officer went on a jealous rampage and killed 6 people in the small Wisconsin town of Crandon, including a 14 year old girl that was sleeping over a friends house. A sniper finally killed the 20 year old “deputy” to end the violence.
The horrific violence begs the question: What is a 20 year old, doing as an armed sheriff.

Taser of 56 year old woman - more police brutality
The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court.
In April 2006, officers with the police department tasered the wheelchair bound woman 10 times because she was wielding a hammer and knives. One has to question exactly how far she could go with the weapons and what danger anyone was really in when the woman was in the wheelchair.
According to a police report, one of the officers used her Taser gun nine times for a total of 160 seconds and the other officer discharged his Taser gun once for a total of no more than five seconds.
A medical examiner found Delafield died from hypertensive heart disease and cited the Taser gun shock as a contributing factor. On her death certificate, the medical examiner ruled Delafield’s death a homicide.
Another great case of great stupidity where a woman in a wheelchair somehow has the upper hand on a group of cops. Has anyone heard of a shield or talking people down before resorting to such an extensive measure as multiple tasers.
University Student Taser Incident at Kerry Rally - Update
Andrew Meyer, 21, was asking a simple series of questions. A reason for a taser here? I doubt it. Meanwhile, Mr. Meyer was released on his own recognizance after spending a night in jail. Two officers were placed on administrative leave (thank you) and university president, Bernie Machen, called the confrontation regretful.
Maybe there is hope out there.
