Is it Big Brother or is it Crime Prevention?

A while back there was a scuffle over a site called adamsblock.com that put up a 24 / 7 vid cam to watch a section of the city where I guess Adam lived. http://www.justin.tv/adamsblock. You can read a full story about this here. Well after a while of the video cam, someone found out who was doing the cams and wanted to take it over and/or stop it, so they basically threatened Adam and since he had posted some real information about himself on his website, well, they found him. And upon finding poor Adam, they made a ruckus like gangstas do so that he would stop the filming.

Watch live video from Adam’s Block (San Francisco) on Justin.tv

This turned into a sensation of a new site, called Ourblock.com which says it is about to launch an effort to have cams all over the country showing all kinds of stuff. What a concept. Not much will happen in my neighborhood, I’m awake at 2am on the internet, and the rest of this town is fast asleep. We don’t have cop cars running here all day long, they are out patrolling the main drags for drunk drivers taking back roads, (that’s how main our drags are here).

I can see merit in this concept. I see it now. But I also see that it can be a problem because gangstas don’t like this kind of thing. Not to mention all the camera hogs. I guess bored old ladys can substitute as cops late at night while everyone else is fast asleep. I guess insomniacs will be deputized to help the cause. It’s seems like some form of reality TV. But the truth of this is that normal citizens might be able to take back the streets. Or will they?

Suspect helps Deputy after Car Chase leads to Heart Attack

A car chaseĀ  ended in a Deputy having a heart attack because of stress. While he was suffering the heart attack one of the passengers of the vehicle, that was handcuffed tried to help him, but unfortunately he died. Meanwhile. Deputies charged the driver with involuntary manslaughter after consulting with prosecutors because the chase led to the stress that caused the Deputy’s heart attack.

While this seems par for the course, maybe in South Carolina, it begs the question; if a Deputy suffers a heart attack while discharging his duties of booking a thief, is the thief liable for the medical situation of that Deputy?

Louise Ogborn gets 6 million dollars from McDonalds for stupid strip search

I’m here to vote for the stupidest manager of McDonalds and the most disgusting crime of the year. Poor Louis Ogborn was subjected to unspeakable horror and torture all because her manager complied with a prank caller’s horrific orders to strip her nude and torture her. It started when he called and claimed that he was a police officer. Rather than check the story and call the police, the manager ordered her to strip nude and for over 2 hours various things took place which included outright sexual assault of the teenager by the managers ugly stupid boyfriend along with others. Finally a maintenance worker at the restaurante was ordered to come in and resume the tortue and refused to comply. Wow! it takes a maintenance man and not a manager to realize it’s all wrong. Please McDonald’s fire your manager!

So Now someone at McDonald’s is claiming that the teenager, who will be living with huge trust issues and this nightmare the rest of her life, is taking advantage of the system. Pleeease!

Warning: This is a pretty disturbing and graphic video, but shows just how stupid people are when it comes to this type of thing. It’s so disturbing in fact, I don’t even want it on this blog. Here’s the link

Taser of 56 year old woman – more police brutality

The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court.

In April 2006, officers with the police department tasered the wheelchair bound woman 10 times because she was wielding a hammer and knives. One has to question exactly how far she could go with the weapons and what danger anyone was really in when the woman was in the wheelchair.

According to a police report, one of the officers used her Taser gun nine times for a total of 160 seconds and the other officer discharged his Taser gun once for a total of no more than five seconds.

A medical examiner found Delafield died from hypertensive heart disease and cited the Taser gun shock as a contributing factor. On her death certificate, the medical examiner ruled Delafield’s death a homicide.

Another great case of great stupidity where a woman in a wheelchair somehow has the upper hand on a group of cops. Has anyone heard of a shield or talking people down before resorting to such an extensive measure as multiple tasers.
